From reality TV dance floors to one of the most ambitious mythological films ever mounted in India, Raghav Juyal’s career graph just took a dramatic turn.
After steadily transitioning from shows like DID and Dance Plus into films — and gaining fresh momentum with last year’s Bads of Bollywood — Raghav has now secured what is easily the biggest project of his career: a pivotal role in Ramayana.
According to Variety India, he will play Meghanad (also known as Indrajit), the formidable son of Ravana, in Ramayana Part 2, which is slated for a Diwali 2027 release.
⚔️ The Warrior of Lanka
In the epic narrative, Meghanad is no ordinary antagonist. He is described as one of the greatest warriors in the Ramayana — a prince of Lanka with near-mythical battlefield skills.
Legends say he could fight from the sky, hidden behind clouds, striking with devastating precision. He is also remembered as the only warrior in the epic who defeated both Lord Rama and Lakshman — twice — before eventually being killed by Lakshman.
For Raghav, this isn’t just a role; it’s a character loaded with scale, intensity, and dramatic weight.
🎬 A Casting Switch Behind the Scenes
Interestingly, the part was initially expected to go to Vikrant Massey. However, things reportedly didn’t work out, and Raghav was subsequently approached. He came on board quickly and is expected to begin filming once he recovers from his current injury.
Stepping into a role of this magnitude places him in direct narrative conflict with some of the biggest stars in the industry — a clear sign of how far he’s come.
🌟 The Mega Ensemble
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film boasts a massive cast:
- Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram
- Sai Pallavi as Sita
- Yash as Ravana
- Ravi Dubey as Lakshman
- Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman
The wider cast includes Lara Dutta (Kaikeyi), Rakul Preet Singh (Surpanakha), Arun Govil (Dashrath), Indira Krishnan (Kaushalya), Sheeba Chaddha (Manthara), Adinath Kothare (Bharat), and Kunal Kapoor (Indra). Vijay Sethupathi is rumoured to be attached, though that hasn’t been officially confirmed.
🎥 Scale, IMAX & Global Ambitions
Produced by Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is being filmed for IMAX with extensive visual effects aimed at global audiences.
The first part is scheduled for release this Diwali, while Part 2 — where Meghanad’s arc becomes central to the war narrative — will arrive in Diwali 2027.
There are also strong murmurs that the film’s first look may be unveiled on Ram Navami (March 27, 2026) at a grand Mumbai event, though the makers haven’t confirmed this yet.
📈 A Defining Moment for Raghav
For someone who began as the “slow-motion king” of dance reality television, this casting signals a serious repositioning. Mythological cinema at this scale can redefine careers — and playing a warrior as iconic as Meghanad comes with enormous visibility.
It’s not just about screen time. It’s about impact.
💬 Final Words
Raghav Juyal’s journey has been unconventional, and that’s exactly what makes this move exciting. From choreographed steps to commanding the battlefield of Lanka, his evolution feels both surprising and earned.
If Ramayana delivers on its promise, Meghanad could become the role that firmly locks Raghav into the big league.
And honestly, that’s one epic upgrade.
