A woman accusing Russell Brand of rape has told a London court that the comedian allegedly assaulted her in a hotel room shortly after asking her to take photographs of him partially undressed.
The testimony was heard at Southwark Crown Court on October 15, 2026, as Brand’s trial continued over seven sexual offence charges involving six women.
Brand has pleaded not guilty to every charge and denies engaging in non-consensual sexual activity.
Woman Describes Alleged 1999 Hotel Room Assault
The complainant, whose identity is legally protected, told the court that she met Brand during the 1999 Labour Party conference in Bournemouth.
After discussing politics and a possible creative collaboration, she invited him to her hotel room to continue their conversation.
According to her testimony, Brand was partially undressed when she returned from the bathroom and began posing for photographs.
The woman alleged that he subsequently pushed her onto the bed and raped her despite her objections.
“I couldn’t fight back,” she told the court while being questioned about the alleged encounter.
Photographs showing a younger, shirtless Brand were presented to the jury as evidence of the encounter.
Why Did the Woman Report the Allegation Years Later?
The complainant explained that she initially remained silent because she feared she would not be believed.
She eventually approached police in 2023, following a Channel 4 documentary investigating allegations against Brand.
During cross-examination, defence barrister Ian Winter KC challenged her recollection and suggested that she had been attracted to Brand, an interpretation she rejected.
Russell Brand Denies All Charges
Brand, 51, faces three rape charges, three sexual assault charges and one indecent assault charge concerning alleged incidents between 1999 and 2009.
The proceedings are ongoing, and the allegations have not been established as facts.
Jurors will consider the testimony, photographic evidence and defence arguments before reaching any verdict.
