Sylvester Stallone has admitted that performing his own stunts throughout his Hollywood career was a costly mistake. The 80-year-old Rocky and Rambo star revealed that years of physically demanding action sequences left him with serious injuries and lasting pain.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Stallone described having “millions, millions of regrets” about the physical risks he took during his career.
Stallone Reveals the Physical Cost of His Action Career
The actor disclosed that he underwent nine back operations, three neck fusions and treatment for significant shoulder and eye injuries.
He particularly recalled the damage sustained during The Expendables franchise, admitting that his body has never fully recovered.
When asked whether he felt proud of performing dangerous stunts himself, Stallone responded, “I think I’m an idiot for doing that.”
Rather than celebrating his injuries as evidence of dedication, he now believes professional stunt performers should handle dangerous sequences.
Why Stallone Is Warning Younger Actors
Stallone’s comments highlight a less glamorous side of Hollywood action filmmaking, where physically demanding scenes can have consequences long after production ends.
His reflections also arrive ahead of the fourth season of Tulsa King, premiering October 16 on Paramount+.
Despite building his legendary career around tough, physically imposing characters, Stallone’s message to younger performers is straightforward: impressive action scenes aren’t worth sacrificing long-term health.
