The makers of Ramayana have unveiled a striking new character poster featuring Jatayu, confirming that veteran actor Anupam Kher will voice the legendary bird in Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic. Released on October 13, 2026, the poster arrives just a week before the film’s advance bookings open on October 20.
Titled Jatayu: The Wings of Dharma, the poster presents the majestic bird in two visuals. One highlights his piercing eyes and powerful features, while another shows him soaring through the sky with his enormous wings outstretched.
Sharing the poster, the makers wrote:
“When evil took flight, courage rose to meet it. He fought not for victory, but for what was right.”
Why Jatayu’s Role Matters in Ramayana
In the Ramayana, Jatayu plays a crucial role during Sita’s abduction. Despite knowing Ravana’s immense strength, the bird confronts him in an attempt to rescue her.
Although Jatayu is gravely wounded, his courage makes him one of the epic’s most memorable symbols of sacrifice and righteousness.
Kher’s casting gives the character an experienced voice performer, although audiences will have to wait until the film’s release to hear his interpretation.
Earlier reports had linked Amitabh Bachchan to the role, but the latest announcement officially establishes Kher’s involvement.
