Actor Kayadu Lohar has opened up about a deeply personal experience from her school days, sharing how she reacted after repeatedly facing eve-teasing as a teenager. The actress, who is currently promoting her upcoming Tamil film Idhayam Murali, spoke candidly about the incident during a recent conversation, explaining why she eventually decided not to remain silent. While reflecting on her actions, Kayadu admitted her response was driven by anger but also stressed the importance of standing up against harassment. Her remarks have since sparked conversations online about self-defense and speaking out against abuse.
Kayadu Lohar Opens Up About a School Incident
During a recent appearance on the Galatta Tamil podcast alongside her Idhayam Murali co-stars Atharvaa Murali and Preity Mukhundhan, Kayadu was asked whether she had ever experienced a real-life “Blast” moment, referring to Preity’s action-packed role in the Tamil film Blast. Initially hesitant about sharing the story, Kayadu eventually decided to speak about an incident from her school days, saying it could encourage girls to stand up for themselves.
Recalling the experience, she said, “I used to take classes near my home when in 10th grade, and there were these boys who were eve-teasing me. For a day, I was like, fine, forget it. The second day, I did the same. The third day, I just couldn’t take it.”
Kayadu explained that after enduring the harassment for several days, her frustration reached a breaking point. Describing how she reacted, she said, “I was so agitated, and I got so angry, I picked up a stone. I threw it at his head and broke it. He started bleeding. I left from there. I don’t know what happened next, but…very violent. I don’t think you can pick up a stone and break a head. But that’s what I felt, and that’s what I did. Maybe I look like, paavam (poor thing), she doesn’t talk much, she is quiet. But when you do the wrong things, I don’t think you should be quiet and take it. You should give it back.”
Although Kayadu acknowledged that her reaction was extreme, she emphasized that women should never feel pressured to silently tolerate harassment or inappropriate behavior. Her comments reflected the emotional impact such experiences can have and the importance she places on standing up against wrongdoing.
A Rising Career Across South Indian Cinema
Away from the headlines, Kayadu Lohar has steadily built a career across multiple South Indian film industries. Before entering films, she worked as a model and made her acting debut with the Kannada film Mugilpete in 2021. She expanded into Malayalam and Telugu cinema the following year with Pathonpatham Noottandu and Alluri, before making her Marathi debut with I Prem U in 2023.
Her biggest breakthrough came with the Tamil film Dragon in 2025, which also marked her debut in the language and introduced her to a much wider audience. Most recently, she appeared in the Telugu film Funky and the Malayalam movie Pallichattambi, continuing to establish herself as one of the emerging young actors working across regional cinema.
Kayadu’s schedule remains packed for the rest of the year. Her upcoming Tamil release Idhayam Murali is set to arrive in theatres on July 10, while she also has Immortal and Manjanaththi in Tamil, I’m Game, Khalifa: The Intro, and Thaaram in Malayalam, along with The Paradise in Telugu.
Apart from films, Kayadu also featured in Sai Abhyankkar’s music video Pavazha Malli, which became a viral hit earlier this year. She also found herself in the news last year after a fake social media post falsely attributed to her circulated online following the Karur stampede.
As Kayadu continues promoting Idhayam Murali, her candid remarks about confronting harassment have drawn significant attention. While she admitted that her reaction as a teenager came from anger and was not something she necessarily recommends, she remained firm in her belief that no one should quietly accept harassment or injustice.
