The Angry Birds Movie 3 Trailer Reveals Red’s New Mission

Paramount Pictures

Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, giving fans a fresh look at Red’s biggest challenge yet. This time, the famously hot-headed bird isn’t just saving the world from another threat—he’s also learning how to navigate life as a full-time parent. The new footage blends the franchise’s trademark comedy with a family-focused story as the animated series prepares for its return to cinemas later this year.

Based on Rovio Entertainment’s hugely successful mobile game franchise, The Angry Birds Movie 3 continues the adventures of the colourful flock that first arrived on the big screen nearly a decade ago. Alongside fast-paced action and plenty of jokes, the latest chapter introduces a more personal journey for its central hero.

Red Takes on His Biggest Responsibility Yet

The trailer opens with Red, once known for his short temper and reluctance to work with others, embracing a completely different role. Voiced once again by Jason Sudeikis, the character proudly announces, “I’m a professional, full-time parent. It’s my new job.”

The story follows Red as he attempts to balance raising three young birds while once again stepping forward to protect those around him. Joining him are familiar allies Chuck, Bomb and Silver, voiced by Josh Gad, Danny McBride and Rachel Bloom respectively. The trailer hints that despite the responsibilities of parenthood, another large-scale adventure soon pulls the group back into action.

Like the previous films, the upcoming sequel mixes slapstick humour with colourful animation designed to appeal to both younger audiences and longtime fans of the franchise. While the full plot remains under wraps, the teaser suggests that Red’s family life will become a central part of the story.

Returning Stars Join an Expanded Voice Cast

Alongside the returning lead actors, The Angry Birds Movie 3 introduces an extensive lineup of new voice talent. Emma Myers, Walker Scobell, Marcello Hernández, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Keke Palmer, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser, MrBeast, Salish Matter, Psalm West, Sam Richardson and James Austin Johnson all join the animated adventure in undisclosed roles.

The film is directed by John Rice from a screenplay written by Thurop Van Orman. Production duties are shared by John Cohen, Dan Chuba, Carla Connor and Namit Malhotra. Rovio Entertainment and Sega return as producers alongside Prime Focus Studios, working in partnership with Flywheel Media, One Cool Group and Dentsu.

Franchise Looks to Continue Its Box Office Success

The Angry Birds film series began in 2016 when the first movie introduced audiences to Bird Island and the rivalry between its flightless birds and a group of mischievous pigs. The sequel followed in 2019, expanding the franchise with new characters and larger adventures.

Together, the first two films earned more than $500 million worldwide, proving that the popular mobile game could successfully make the jump to the big screen. While Sony Pictures released the previous installments, The Angry Birds Movie 3 marks a new chapter under Paramount Pictures.

With the holiday season often proving to be one of the busiest periods for family films, Paramount will be hoping the latest adventure continues the franchise’s strong commercial run. The Angry Birds Movie 3 is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 23, setting up another festive showdown at the global box office.
