The long-standing tension in the music industry spilled out into the public again this week after Amaal Mallik reignited his allegations against Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur, claiming the duo built Kabir Singh’s chartbuster “Bekhayali” using ideas he originally created.
This time, Sachet–Parampara didn’t hold back.
Late Tuesday night, the couple released a detailed video on social media, accusing Amaal of spreading “falsehoods” and insisting the song was born entirely in their own studio sessions — with the film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and actor Shahid Kapoor personally present during its creation.
“Every melody, every lyric — it’s our original work.”
In the video, Sachet and Parampara appear visibly frustrated as they lay out their version of events:
“We never imagined we’d have to explain this. But Bekhayali is something we created.
Every beat, every arrangement — the entire team was in the room when it was made.”
They also shared screenshots of messages they claim are from Amaal himself — congratulating them after the song’s release and praising their work.
Sachet adds pointedly:
“I didn’t even have your number until you called me, Amaal.”
Duo Denies Favouritism Claims
Amaal earlier alleged that the industry favours certain composers, suggesting the duo benefited from label politics.
But Sachet–Parampara pushed back hard:
“We weren’t even associated with T-Series before Kabir Singh. Amaal has been with them since 2015. So why would anyone favour us?”
Their implication: If Amaal had truly been wronged, why did he celebrate their success in private messages?
They Demand a Public Apology
Towards the end of their video, the couple’s tone shifts from defensive to assertive:
“You went public with your claims, Amaal. So now we expect a public apology.”
Their caption was even stronger, accusing Amaal of spreading “rumours” and adding:
“Shame on you, Amaal Mallik.”
The Allegations That Started It All
Back in July, Amaal Mallik claimed in an interview that:
- He had shared his own musical references with the makers
- Those references were used by Sachet–Parampara
- He was originally supposed to compose six songs for Kabir Singh
- The offer was later reduced to one track
He also said he heard “Bekhayali” and immediately recognised similarities to his references.
Not Their First Plagiarism Controversy
This dispute comes months after composer Rajarshi Mitter’s wife, Nilanjana Ghosh Dastidar, accused the duo of lifting her husband’s track for their song “Maiyya” from Do Patti.
She later deleted the post, but the controversy had already sparked debate among indie musicians about copyright protection in Bollywood.
Final Words
As the music business becomes increasingly transparent — and increasingly combative on social media — disputes that once stayed behind studio walls are now unfolding in front of millions.
For now, the ball is in Amaal Mallik’s court. And given the intensity of Sachet–Parampara’s response, this battle is far from over.
