Sometimes, the biggest casting reveals don’t come from official announcements — they slip out mid-interview. That’s exactly what seems to have happened with Jailer 2, as Mithun Chakraborty casually confirmed not just multiple star cameos in the Rajinikanth-led sequel, but also let it slip that Shah Rukh Khan is part of the film.
The revelation has sent fans into a frenzy, especially since it hints at a rare on-screen moment between two of Indian cinema’s biggest icons.
How the Leak Happened
While speaking about his career in an interview with Siti Cinema, Mithun was asked whether he preferred working in a specific genre — family drama, action, or thrillers. His response quickly turned into a spoiler-filled moment.
Mithun mentioned Jailer 2 as his next project and added that “everybody is against me” in the film. He then went on to list the names: Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, and Shiva Rajkumar — all seemingly positioned opposite his character.
In doing so, Mithun not only confirmed Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo but also strongly suggested that he himself plays the antagonist this time around.
Why This Casting Is a Big Deal
If this information holds true, Jailer 2 will mark the first time Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh Khan share the screen together in a proper narrative setting.
While fans often bring up Ra.One (2011), where Rajinikanth’s character Chitti from Enthiran appeared, that cameo wasn’t actually performed by Rajinikanth himself. Actor Suresh Menon had earlier clarified that Rajinikanth was unwell at the time, and the appearance was recreated without him.
Shah Rukh did pay tribute to Rajinikanth with the viral Lungi Dance in Chennai Express (2013), but the two legends never shared a scene — making Jailer 2 a true first.
Returning Faces and Franchise Momentum
The original Jailer (2023) was powered by Rajinikanth in top form and backed by memorable supporting performances from Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil, Yogi Babu, and others. The cameos by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff played a huge role in the film’s pan-India appeal.
For Jailer 2, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are set to reprise their roles, with Rajinikanth and Ramya Krishnan returning as well. If Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement is officially confirmed, the sequel could scale even bigger — both in hype and reach.
Final Words
Mithun Chakraborty may have spoken a little too freely, but fans aren’t complaining. A film that already promised heavyweight cameos now appears to be setting up a historic Rajinikanth–Shah Rukh Khan on-screen moment. If Jailer 2 delivers on this ensemble, it could turn into one of the most star-studded sequels Indian cinema has seen in years.
