Peddi may have become one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters of the year, but according to Ram Charan, the film’s impact has gone far beyond the box office. Speaking at the movie’s success celebration in Hyderabad, the actor revealed that even his young daughter Klin Kaara has been influenced by the film’s popularity. The light-hearted confession quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the event.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi has emerged as a major commercial success since its theatrical release on June 4. The film has reportedly crossed ₹332 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2026 so far. While the movie enjoyed a strong run at the box office, it also found itself at the center of online debates over the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor’s character, leading to criticism from sections of the audience.
Amid discussions about the controversy, Ram chose to focus on the overwhelming support the film received from viewers and shared how the character of Peddi has unexpectedly followed him home.
Klin Kaara Has A New Name For Her Father
During the event, Ram Charan joked that the success of Peddi has been so massive that people may eventually forget his real name and remember only the character. He then shared an amusing anecdote involving his daughter, which drew smiles and laughter from those present.
“You have made the film such a huge success that I worry you will forget Ram Charan and remember only Peddi,” he said. The actor then revealed that his daughter used to call him “nanna” before the film’s release but has now started calling him “Peddi.”
“No, I’m saying that because I’ve experienced that even at home. My little one, Klin Kaara, used to call me nanna till the film was released. She now says, ey Peddi. When I tell her not to address me like that, she’s calling me Peddi nanna. So, even she has forgotten me.”
The moment became even more special as Chiranjeevi, who was also present at the celebration, was seen smiling while listening to the story. Fans online quickly shared clips from the event, with many calling it one of the cutest moments from the film’s success meet.
Ram Charan Responds To Peddi Criticism
While the event was largely celebratory, Ram Charan also addressed the conversations that surrounded the film after its release. Despite strong reviews from many viewers, Peddi faced criticism regarding certain scenes involving Janhvi Kapoor’s character. The discussions became intense enough that the makers eventually revised parts of the film.
Instead of directly engaging with the controversy, Ram focused on expressing gratitude to audiences who supported the movie. He recalled a famous dialogue from Tagore while explaining how Telugu audiences respond to cinema.
“I remember a dialogue from the Tagore movie. Telugu people don’t like anyone that easily, but once they do, they love them till death. Much like that, no matter who said what and no matter what reviews were written…this film is truly not ours, it belongs to the audience,” he said.
The actor also thanked reviewers and content creators across platforms for discussing the film and helping it reach wider audiences. He emphasized that both large media organizations and independent reviewers contributed to the conversation around the movie.
“I still thank everyone from big channels to small reviewers from the bottom of my heart,” he added.
Peddi Becomes A Crucial Career Milestone
Beyond its impressive collections, Peddi has become an important film in Ram Charan’s recent career journey. The actor was coming off a difficult period following the underwhelming performances of Game Changer and Acharya. Expectations were high, and industry observers closely watched whether his next release could reconnect with audiences.
The success of Peddi appears to have achieved exactly that. The film not only delivered strong box office numbers but also reinforced Ram Charan’s standing as one of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars. The movie’s rustic setting, emotional storytelling, and sports-driven narrative helped it connect with audiences across multiple markets.
Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, Peddi features a star-studded cast including Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani. One of the film’s major highlights is its music composed by AR Rahman, whose involvement generated significant excitement even before release.
Following the criticism surrounding certain scenes, the makers reportedly removed the portions that drew objections and later introduced new scenes featuring Janhvi Kapoor. The move was seen as an effort to address audience concerns while maintaining the film’s momentum in theaters.
With Peddi continuing its successful run and discussions already shifting toward his next collaboration with Pushpa and Rangasthalam director Sukumar, Ram Charan appears to have regained strong momentum. And if his daughter Klin Kaara is any indication, the character of Peddi may remain attached to him for quite some time.
