Actor Siddharth Sharma, who was part of the upcoming Sunny Deol-starrer Soorya, has publicly accused the film’s producers of non-payment of dues and misconduct, revealing that he has now initiated legal proceedings against them.
The actor shared a statement on his Instagram account announcing that he has “dissociated” himself from the project and is pursuing action against the makers. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Siddharth opened up about the alleged mistreatment and shocking experiences he faced during the production.
“They Told Me, ‘Main Toh Pay Nahi Karunga, Tujhe Jo Karna Hai Kar Le’”
Siddharth recalled the ordeal, saying this was the first time in his 7–8-year career that he encountered such behavior.
“The producer told me on call, ‘Main toh pay nahi karunga. Tujhe jo karna hai, tu kar le. Tu apne aap ko bada hero samajhta hai, toh ban le hero.’ I was shocked because I’ve always spoken to them politely,” he said.
The actor revealed that his payment terms were clearly mentioned in a contract signed in 2022, which promised a signing amount and a partial payment after 50% of the shoot. However, despite completing large portions of the film, he claims the producers refused to release his dues, citing financial issues.
“They used to say ‘Beta, shoot kar le, abhi paise nahi hain,’ but after Gadar 2 and Sanam Teri Kasam re-released, they had money. They just chose not to pay me,” he alleged.
“They Made Me Shoot a Manyavar Ad Without My Knowledge”
Siddharth further claimed that the producers used him in a commercial for clothing brand Manyavar without informing or taking consent.
“They told me it was a scene for the film, but that scene wasn’t even in my script. Later, Manyavar contacted me saying they wanted to do a promotional exercise with me since I’d shot an ad for them. That’s how I found out they had used my footage without my permission,” he said.
He added that the ad also featured Sunny Deol and Virti Vaghani (Aarya fame), and called the act “cheating.”
How It All Began
According to Siddharth, the producers reached out to him through Kangana Ranaut while he was shooting Lock Upp. They reportedly convinced him to join Soorya by emphasizing that the film starred Sunny Deol in the lead and would be an important project for him.
“They came through references from Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who directed my biggest hit ‘Leja Re.’ So, I trusted them. I signed the film and started shooting in Jaipur in 2022,” he explained.
The actor said he even cancelled dates for another project to accommodate Soorya, only to face delays, broken promises, and financial disputes later.
“They Are Ruining Sunny Deol Sir’s Name”
Despite the disagreements, Siddharth praised the film’s creative aspects and Sunny Deol’s performance, but expressed disappointment in the way the producers conducted themselves.
“The film is fantastic, and Sunny sir is amazing, but they are ruining his name by misusing it. They tell everyone, ‘Sunny Deol hamare hero hain,’ to gain credibility, but behind the scenes, they’re not honoring contracts,” he said.
The actor also confirmed that he has sent a legal notice to the production team after repeated attempts to resolve the matter privately failed.
No Response from the Producers
Attempts to reach producer Kamal Mukut for comment were unsuccessful.
Siddharth concluded by saying he will not participate in Soorya’s dubbing or promotional activities until his dues are cleared, adding,
“All I ask is that they stick to the legal agreement. Otherwise, what’s the point of having one?”
