As Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! makes its jump from television screens to cinemas, all eyes are back on Angoori Bhabhi — and the actress who made the character her own.
In an exclusive chat with Zoom ahead of the film’s release, Shubhangi Atre opened up about how she shaped Angoori’s innocence and warmth — and how much of that came straight from home.
🎭 From Television Icon to Big Screen
Shubhangi has played Angoori Bhabhi for years on the hit sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, turning the character into one of Indian television’s most recognisable faces. With the franchise now expanding into a film titled Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun on the Ride, she reprises the beloved role for the big screen.
And according to her, the emotional core of Angoori didn’t come from a script workshop — it came from her mother.
🌸 “My Mother Is Living Angoori”
Talking about how she built the character, Shubhangi shared that actors often borrow from real life — from family, friends, and everyday surroundings.
Coming from Madhya Pradesh, she grew up watching the women in her family devote themselves to their homes. She fondly described her mother as a “living Angoori,” someone who sings while cooking and finds joy in simple domestic routines.
That sense of devotion, warmth, and simplicity became the foundation of Angoori’s personality on screen.
💛 How Similar Is Shubhangi to Angoori?
When asked if she sees herself in the character, Shubhangi admitted there isn’t much difference — except that she’s more educated and less naïve.
She loves cooking and feeding people, a trait that earned her the nickname “Annapurna” among friends and colleagues. Even on set, she would often prepare food for others.
More importantly, she resonated with Angoori’s innocence. According to her, both she and the character share values of simplicity, humbleness, and honesty — principles her parents instilled in her from a young age.
In a world where people often change themselves to fit in, Shubhangi believes staying rooted in culture and authenticity is what keeps a person grounded — a trait she sees mirrored in Angoori.
🎬 About the Film
Directed by Shashank Bali, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun on the Ride brings the daily soap’s ensemble cast to theatres. The film also features Vidisha Srivastava, Ravi Kishan, Mukesh Tiwari, and Nirahua.
Produced by Zee Cinema along with Sanjay Kohli and Binaiffer Kohli, the comedy entertainer hits theatres on February 6, 2026.
🎯 Why This Transition Matters
Television-to-film adaptations don’t always work — especially when audiences are deeply attached to small-screen versions. But Angoori Bhabhi’s charm lies in her relatability, not spectacle.
And if Shubhangi’s real-life warmth continues to fuel the character, fans may just feel like they’re meeting an old friend — only this time, on a much bigger screen.
Final Words
For Shubhangi Atre, Angoori isn’t just a role — she’s an extension of lived experiences, family values, and everyday simplicity.
As Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun on the Ride heads to theatres, it carries more than just comedy. It carries the essence of a character shaped by real homes, real women, and very real warmth.
