A new Bollywood pairing is quietly taking shape — and it brings together two next-gen names with strong industry roots. Rajkumar Hirani’s son Vir Hirani is set to make his theatrical debut, and he’ll be sharing the screen with Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani in an upcoming romantic film titled Lagan Laagi Re.
The project, backed by producer Jay Shewakramani, is being positioned as a fresh, small-town love story with a contemporary setting. The makers were reportedly keen on introducing a new on-screen couple, and the pairing of Vir and Rasha seems to fit that vision — young, relatively new, and not overexposed yet.
Direction is in the hands of Sonali Rattan Deshmukh, who has previously worked behind the scenes on films like Jannat, Tum Mile, and Shiddat. That background hints at a certain emotional tone — music-driven romance with a focus on relationships and heartbreak — something Bollywood audiences still connect with when done right.
The writing side also adds weight. Karan Vyas, known for his work on Scam 1992, Scoop, and Raid 2, has penned the screenplay. That’s an interesting mix — a writer associated with sharp, grounded storytelling stepping into a romantic space. It could give the film a slightly more layered feel instead of a routine love story.
For Vir Hirani, this is more than just a debut — it’s a carefully built entry. Before stepping onto the big screen, he’s already part of the upcoming series Pritam Pedro, a cybercrime thriller created by his father, Rajkumar Hirani. With co-stars like Arshad Warsi and Vikrant Massey, that project is expected to introduce him to a wider audience before his film release.
He also brings a strong theatre background, having trained at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and earned praise for his stage performance in Letters From Suresh. That foundation could help him stand out in a space where many newcomers rely heavily on screen presence alone.
On the other side, Rasha Thadani is quickly building momentum. She made her debut with Azaad, and while the film didn’t perform strongly at the box office, her performance didn’t go unnoticed. Since then, she’s been steadily picking up projects, including Laikey Laika and Srinivasa Mangapuram, positioning herself as one of the more active Gen Z entrants in the industry.
What works in this casting is timing. Both actors are at a stage where audiences are still discovering them, which gives Lagan Laagi Re a clean slate. There’s no baggage of past roles, no fixed image — just a new pairing that can either click instantly or fade quietly.
The film is set to go on floors in July 2026, and if executed well, it could tap into a space Bollywood has been revisiting lately — rooted love stories with a modern lens. Whether it becomes a breakout moment for both leads will depend on how well the story connects, but as a launchpad, it’s definitely a promising start.
