Tamannaah Bhatia has faced a legal setback after the Madras High Court dismissed her ₹1 crore damages claim against Power Soaps Limited, bringing a long-running dispute to a close.

The case, which goes back to 2008, was rooted in a brand endorsement deal. Tamannaah had signed on to promote Power Soaps products for a fixed period of one year, with the agreement ending in October 2009. According to the actress, the issue began when the company allegedly continued using her images even after the contract had expired.

She claimed that her photos appeared on product packaging, advertisements, and even online promotions during 2010 and 2011—without her permission. Tamannaah argued that this not only violated the agreement but also affected her market value, especially at a time when she was in talks with competing brands. Based on this, she sought ₹1 crore in damages and requested a permanent ban on further use of her images.

However, the case struggled to hold ground in court.

During the initial hearing, the single judge examined the materials Tamannaah presented—product wrappers, purchase receipts, and some online references. But the court found these pieces of evidence weak and inconclusive. There was no clear, verifiable link proving that the company had continued using her images beyond the agreed timeline.

With that, her original suit was dismissed.

Unhappy with the decision, Tamannaah took the matter to a division bench. The appeal was reviewed again, but the bench upheld the earlier verdict. The judges concluded that there was still no solid proof to support her claims, and therefore, no reason to overturn the ruling.

This effectively ends the case, with the court also denying her request for an injunction.

The verdict highlights a key takeaway in endorsement disputes—claims of misuse need strong, traceable evidence. Without that, even high-profile cases struggle to stand in court.
