Valentine’s weekend gave it the perfect launchpad, but by Sunday, the pace slowed. O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, wrapped up its first three days in theatres with a total of ₹30.15 crore — though Day 3 saw collections slip back into single digits.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the romantic-action drama released on February 13 and opened to a fairly solid response at the domestic box office.
Day-Wise Breakdown
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film began its journey with ₹8.5 crore on Friday. Saturday witnessed a strong jump of nearly 49%, pushing collections to ₹12.65 crore.
However, on Sunday (Day 3), the film collected ₹9 crore, bringing the opening weekend total to ₹30.15 crore in India.
While the dip may raise some concerns, the overall weekend number still puts the film in a respectable spot.
Stronger Start Than Shahid’s Last Two Films
Interestingly, O Romeo has outperformed Shahid Kapoor’s previous two theatrical releases in terms of opening weekend numbers.
His 2025 release Deva had earned ₹19.15 crore over its first weekend. Meanwhile, 2024’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya had collected ₹27.1 crore during the same period.
With ₹30.15 crore already secured, O Romeo has crossed both marks comfortably.
For Triptii Dimri, the film has reportedly emerged as her fourth-highest grosser so far, moving ahead of Dhadak 2 in early earnings.
Occupancy & Show Count
The film is currently running 4,699 shows across India.
On Sunday, overall occupancy stood at 18.96%. Chennai led with 26.75% occupancy across 64 shows, followed by Jaipur at 25.50% from 165 shows.
Mumbai recorded 21.25% occupancy across 780 shows, while Delhi-NCR saw 18.25% across 1,171 shows. Afternoon shows reportedly saw better footfall compared to morning screenings.
Overseas, the film has earned approximately ₹5 crore in two days.
Competition & Industry Context
Compared to the massive ₹121 crore opening weekend of Border 2, O Romeo’s numbers are modest. But within its genre space — a romantic-action thriller — the film has held steady.
It has also performed noticeably better than Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav’s Tu Yaa Main, which released alongside it.
Backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film also features Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, and Farida Jalal in pivotal roles, with special appearances by Tamannaah Bhatia, Vikrant Massey, and Disha Patani.
Final Words
A ₹30 crore opening weekend is not record-breaking, but it’s solid in today’s unpredictable theatrical climate.
The real test now begins on the weekdays. If word-of-mouth holds and the film maintains stability, O Romeo could turn its Valentine’s momentum into a steady run.
For now, Day 3 shows a dip — but not a downfall.
