There are celebrity rumours… and then there are real-life scares. This week, Govinda finally broke his silence on a chilling episode that had been whispered about for months — the night a group of over 20 men allegedly tried to surround his Mumbai residence.

And according to the actor, it wasn’t a minor disturbance.

“They Were Not Party People”

Speaking to ANI, Govinda recalled spotting around 22–23 men approaching his house late at night. At first, he assumed they might be guests arriving for a gathering. But something felt off.

“They didn’t look like party people,” he said, adding that he quickly began recording them on his phone.

Things escalated when, according to Govinda, one of the men climbed onto the terrace. That’s when he realised the situation was serious.

Calls That Went Unanswered

The actor revealed he first tried contacting the Mumbai Police. When he allegedly didn’t receive a response, he claims he reached out to the police department of another country and asked them to stay on the line while he handled the situation.

He also informed close contacts about what was unfolding.

At that point, he decided to take out his licensed firearm.

The Confrontation

Govinda said he confronted the group directly, asking who they were. Initially, no one responded. Eventually, one of them reportedly claimed they were there to “fix the power system.”

But the explanation didn’t convince him.

When they failed to leave, Govinda said he pointed the gun and ordered them to exit the premises. According to him, they were not expecting that reaction — and eventually dispersed.

Interestingly, he added that he didn’t pursue identifying the individuals further, calling it “a waste of energy.”

Death Threat Claims Add To The Tension

Last week, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha claimed the actor has been receiving death threats. He stated that an FIR was filed and that there is video evidence from the night of the incident.

Sinha even suggested that the outcome could have been far worse had Govinda not been armed.

These claims add another layer of seriousness to what might otherwise have been dismissed as a neighbourhood disturbance.

The Gun Incident Context

The episode also brings back memories of October 2024, when Govinda was hospitalised after allegedly injuring himself while cleaning his gun at home. Police had then stated that the firearm accidentally discharged, causing a leg injury just before he was set to leave for the airport.

It remains unclear whether the same licensed weapon was involved in both incidents. Neither Govinda nor his team has explicitly connected the two events.

A Philosophy Of “Act, Don’t React”

Beyond the incident itself, Govinda reflected on how public figures handle pressure. He shared that actors must focus on “acting” rather than constantly reacting to every societal comment or provocation.

However, he also admitted that prolonged silence can sometimes create suspicion — a delicate balance celebrities often struggle with in today’s social media-driven climate.

Final Words

For an actor known for his comic timing and colourful screen presence, this was a starkly serious account. If the claims are accurate, the night could have taken a dangerous turn.

Whether authorities provide further clarity or not, one thing is certain — this wasn’t just gossip. It was a moment that left one of Bollywood’s most recognisable faces feeling surrounded, quite literally.

And that’s not a headline anyone expects to read about Govinda.
