Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge is not slowing down — in fact, it’s doing the opposite. Even in its fourth week, the spy thriller is holding strong, pulling audiences back into theatres at a time when Bollywood has been struggling to keep momentum.
And now, Kangana Ranaut has stepped in with a strong take — calling the film a turning point for the industry.
According to Kangana, Hindi cinema had slowly started losing touch with its own audience. She pointed out how viewers were drifting away, while South films gained traction by staying rooted in culture and identity. In her words, films like Dhurandhar are bringing people back because they reflect stories audiences actually connect with.
She didn’t hold back in her praise, saying the film has given “new hope” to the industry — a big claim, especially right now when original Hindi films are finding it tough to break through.
At the center of this story is R. Madhavan, who plays Ajay Sanyal, the IB chief inspired by real-life National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Kangana, who has worked with Madhavan in Tanu Weds Manu, called his performance “terrific” and said he came very close to capturing Doval’s larger-than-life presence.
Still, she added an interesting thought — that Ajit Doval’s life is so vast and layered, it probably deserves a full film of its own to truly do justice.
The film itself leans heavily into high-stakes espionage. Set against the backdrop of early 2000s Pakistan, it follows Ranveer Singh’s character navigating the dangerous world of Lyari while taking on terror networks threatening India. The sequel expands the story, digging deeper into his past and pushing the narrative forward with bigger stakes.
What’s working here is clear — scale, intensity, and a strong patriotic angle that’s connecting with audiences. The film isn’t just relying on star power; it’s tapping into a mood. Right now, viewers seem more interested in stories that feel grounded in real events or national themes rather than purely escapist content.
That’s exactly where Dhurandhar: The Revenge is finding its strength.
With steady box office numbers even weeks after release, the film is proving that if the content clicks, audiences will show up — no matter how crowded the market gets.
And if this trend continues, Dhurandhar might not just be a hit — it could end up influencing what kind of films Bollywood bets on next.
