Just when the theatrical storm seemed enough, Dhurandhar is now rewriting digital history.
Directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singh, the spy thriller continues to dominate Netflix weeks after its OTT debut. And with Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge set to hit theatres on March 19, the franchise momentum has only intensified.
Week 4 and Still Roaring
Released digitally on January 30, 2026, after its December 5, 2025 theatrical run, Dhurandhar has now crossed 20 million views globally on Netflix.
For the week of February 16–22, the film ranked No. 8 in Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Movies category. That marks the fourth straight week the film has stayed in the Top 10 — a rare feat for an Indian title.
Here’s how its digital journey unfolded:
- Week 1 (Jan 30 – Feb 1): 7.6 million views
- Week 2 (Feb 2 – Feb 8): 8.2 million views
- Week 3 (Feb 9 – Feb 15): 2.9 million views
- Week 4 (Feb 16 – Feb 22): 2 million views
Total views now stand at approximately 20.7 million, with nearly 67 million hours watched — reportedly the highest ever for an Indian film on the platform.
Nearly a month after its streaming premiere, the film is still trending in the Top 10 across 13 countries and holding the No. 1 position in five of them.
From Box Office Titan to OTT Powerhouse
Before conquering Netflix, Dhurandhar had already shattered box office records.
The film grossed a staggering ₹1354.84 crore worldwide, with ₹894.49 crore net in India — officially becoming the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time.
Featuring a powerhouse ensemble including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, and others, the first part delivered a slick blend of espionage, patriotism, and emotional drama.
And clearly, audiences weren’t done with it after theatres.
Ram Gopal Varma’s Bold Prediction
Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been one of the film’s loudest cheerleaders. Ahead of the sequel’s release, he posted on X comparing Dhurandhar 2 to “an asteroid that might end the dinosaur era” of filmmaking — suggesting it could reset mainstream cinema standards.
It’s a dramatic analogy — but not entirely surprising given the franchise’s performance so far.
Dhurandhar 2 vs Toxic: A High-Stakes Clash
Interestingly, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge will face a major box office clash with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups, starring Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas.
The pan-India project also features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently called the head-to-head release “unfortunate,” hinting at the risk both big-budget films face.
It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest box office showdowns of the year.
What to Expect from The Revenge
The sequel will reportedly dive deeper into the backstory of Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza. While most of the original cast returns, Akshaye Khanna’s character Rehman Dakait will not appear, given his death at the end of Part 1.
Expect bigger action set pieces, higher emotional stakes, and expanded geopolitical drama.
If the first film built the legend, the second aims to intensify it.
Final Words
From record-breaking theatrical numbers to historic Netflix milestones, Dhurandhar has evolved into more than just a film — it’s a franchise phenomenon.
Now, as Dhurandhar 2 prepares for a massive theatrical clash, the question isn’t whether the hype is real.
It’s whether Bollywood is ready for another round of Hamza’s revenge.
