Self-styled film critic and controversial social media figure Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, has once again landed in serious legal trouble. The Mumbai Police have arrested him in connection with a firing incident reported from the city’s western suburbs, marking another dramatic turn in his long list of run-ins with the law.
According to officials, KRK was taken to the Oshiwara police station late Friday night for questioning. During the interrogation, he is alleged to have confessed to firing two shots using his licensed firearm, a development that significantly advanced the investigation.
What Happened in Oshiwara
As per Press Trust of India, the firing incident dates back to January 18, when two bullets were discovered inside a residential complex — Nalanda Society — in the Oshiwara area of Andheri.
During the probe, police recovered:
- One bullet from the second floor
- Another bullet from the fourth floor
Officials revealed that one of the affected flats belongs to a writer-director, while the other is owned by a model. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Initial investigations hit a dead end as CCTV footage from the society failed to provide any clear leads. However, a forensic examination later indicated that the bullets may have been fired from KRK’s bungalow located in the vicinity, prompting police to summon him for questioning.
Arrest and Legal Charges
Following the interrogation, KRK was arrested on Saturday. Police confirmed that a case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as well as the Arms Act.
Authorities have stated that the motive behind the firing is still under investigation, and further questioning may be carried out to establish the sequence of events and intent.
A Familiar Pattern of Legal Trouble
This is far from KRK’s first brush with the law. In August 2022, he was arrested at Mumbai’s international airport over allegedly derogatory social media posts and was later sent to judicial custody. He was also previously arrested in connection with a 2021 molestation case, in which he was eventually granted bail.
Over the years, KRK’s provocative online presence — marked by aggressive commentary and personal attacks on industry figures — has repeatedly drawn legal scrutiny and public backlash.
From Reality TV to Controversial Critic
KRK first shot to fame after appearing on Bigg Boss Season 3 in 2009, followed by his film Deshdrohi. He later made a cameo appearance in Ek Villain, directed by Mohit Suri.
In recent years, however, his identity has been dominated by his role as a self-proclaimed film critic, with his controversial opinions often eclipsing his work in cinema.
Final Words
With his arrest in the Oshiwara firing case, KRK once again finds himself at the centre of a serious criminal investigation. As police continue to piece together the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident, the case adds yet another chapter to the turbulent public life of a figure who has consistently blurred the line between controversy and consequence.
