There’s always that one moment early in a film’s run where things either slow down… or surprise you. For Bhooth Bangla, it almost looked like the usual weekday drop had kicked in — until Tuesday changed the mood again.
After a slight stumble on Monday, the Akshay Kumar starrer found some fresh energy on Day 5. Not a massive jump, but enough to tell you the film isn’t losing steam just yet.
The numbers kind of show that story clearly.
The film opened on April 17 with paid previews bringing in around ₹3.5 crore. Then came a strong first day at ₹12.25 crore, followed by a solid weekend that pushed the total to ₹58 crore net in India. Everything was looking comfortable till Monday dropped things to ₹6.75 crore — not alarming, but definitely a dip.
And then Tuesday stepped in.
The film climbed back to ₹8 crore, which is honestly a good sign for a weekday. It’s not a huge spike, but it shows people are still walking into theatres even after the initial rush. That takes the five-day domestic total to around ₹72.75 crore net, with gross numbers crossing ₹86 crore.
Overseas, things have been a bit slower but steady. After a quiet start, the film picked up pace over the weekend and has now crossed $3 million internationally. Tuesday alone added about $270K, which again signals consistency more than explosive growth.
Put it all together, and Bhooth Bangla is sitting at roughly ₹118 crore worldwide already.
For a film that’s also competing with Dhurandhar 2, that’s not a bad position at all.
What makes this more interesting is where it stands in the bigger picture. The film has already moved past the lifetime numbers of Bhediya (₹90 crore worldwide), which was one of the more talked-about horror comedies in recent years. It’s also gone ahead of films like O Romeo and Mardaani 3 this year, quietly climbing into the top performers list.
Now the next target looks clear — crossing Munjya (₹132 crore worldwide). That seems doable if the current pace holds. Beyond that, things get tougher. Films like Stree and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 sit at a higher level, and their sequels are in another league altogether.
But for now, Bhooth Bangla doesn’t need to chase those yet. It just needs to stay steady.
Directed by Priyadarshan, the film marks his return to Hindi cinema after a gap, and also reunites him with Akshay Kumar after years — something fans had been waiting for. The cast, including Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Mithila Palkar, adds to that familiar comedy chaos the director is known for.
Right now, the film’s biggest strength isn’t a massive spike — it’s stability. If it can hold this pace through the week and pick up again over the weekend, that ₹150 crore mark is very much within reach.
And in today’s box office climate, that counts as a proper win.
