Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar isn’t slowing down — in fact, it’s rewriting the modern box office playbook. Exactly a month after its release, the Ranveer Singh-led spy thriller has crossed the massive ₹1,200-crore mark at the global box office, placing it among a very exclusive club of Indian blockbusters.
With this feat, Dhurandhar has officially become the fifth-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, edging past Yash’s KGF Chapter 2 and setting its sights on even bigger milestones.
A strong fifth weekend keeps momentum alive
After an expected dip post its initial run, Dhurandhar found fresh legs during its fifth weekend. The film collected over ₹33 crore net across Friday to Sunday, pushing its India net total to ₹772.25 crore. In gross terms, the domestic tally now stands at approximately ₹926.7 crore.
Despite fresh competition from Avatar: Fire and Ash, Ikkis, and the underperforming Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, the film has managed to hold on to the top spot at the Indian box office — a rare achievement this deep into its theatrical run.
Trade analysts do expect a noticeable drop on weekdays, but the overall trend continues to favour Dhar’s espionage spectacle.
Overseas numbers impress despite a major setback
Internationally, Dhurandhar has already crossed $31 million, placing it firmly on track to break into the top 10 overseas performers among Indian films. What makes this run particularly notable is the fact that the film did not release in the Middle East, reportedly due to a ban — a market that could have added an estimated $10 million more to its tally.
Even with that limitation, the film’s worldwide gross now stands at ₹1,207 crore, an extraordinary figure for a non-franchise spy thriller.
Beating KGF, chasing RRR
On Sunday, Dhurandhar officially overtook KGF Chapter 2, which had wrapped its global run at ₹1,200 crore back in 2022. The next target is now clearly SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which finished at around ₹1,230 crore worldwide.
If current trends hold steady for another week, that milestone may not be far off.
About the film and what’s next
Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian intelligence operative embedded deep within terror networks in Karachi. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film also features Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles.
With audience interest still strong and repeat value holding up, the makers have already confirmed Part 2 for a March 2026 release, turning Dhurandhar into a full-fledged franchise.
Final words
Crossing ₹1,200 crore without Middle East support, surviving multiple new releases, and overtaking a titan like KGF Chapter 2 — Dhurandhar’s box office journey is nothing short of historic. Whether it overtakes RRR or not, Aditya Dhar’s film has already secured its place among Indian cinema’s all-time great theatrical runs.
