Prabhas’ much-awaited horror-comedy The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, has officially cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after undergoing a round of cuts and visual modifications. The film, set for a grand Sankranthi release on January 9, has been awarded a UA 16+ certificate, just days before it hits theatres.
What CBFC Asked to Be Changed
According to the censor certificate issued on December 24, 2025, the makers were asked to tone down certain graphic horror elements. A 35-second scene showing blood washing across the floor was modified and converted into monochrome to reduce its intensity. Another four-second flash visual involving a beheading was completely removed.
In addition to visual edits, CBFC also directed changes in audio description (AD) and closed captioning (CC) to align with certification guidelines. After complying with all instructions, the film was cleared with a final runtime of 189 minutes (3 hours and 9 minutes).
Crowded Sankranthi Box Office Battle
The Raja Saab is entering one of the busiest festival windows in recent years. On January 9, it will clash directly with Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan (released in Telugu as Jana Nayakudu). The competition continues on January 10 with Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, followed by Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu on January 12. The festive lineup extends to January 14, with releases like Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju and Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari.
